BEFORE I SHOWCASE MY WORK...

Since the age of 13, I've been deeply passionate about sharing content with the world. Music has always been my primary passion, so naturally, I began sharing the music I loved across the internet with my friends. Armed with nothing but an old laptop, I started by ripping music videos of artists like Kesha and others who were making waves at the time. I posted these videos on a Facebook page I had created during my younger years. However, due to copyright issues and a lack of growth, I felt compelled to explore new avenues.

Inspired by the success of various music promotion brands on YouTube, I decided to carve out my own space on the platform. With my trusty old laptop, I began creating visualizers in After Effects, a process that often took more than half a day to render. Despite the challenges, my passion for music never waned. As my YouTube project gained momentum, I made the decision to upgrade my setup and dive deeper into the world of YouTube content creation.

As my channel began to experience modest growth, I started forging connections with other like-minded music curators. Over the course of nine years in the music industry, I leveraged these connections to manage a variety of music channels. I taught myself the intricacies of the YouTube algorithm and through trial and error, I gained valuable insights into what makes videos go viral and how to transform a hobby into a lucrative pursuit.

One of my proudest achievements was running and curating music for Trap City, a channel boasting over 14 million subscribers. This opportunity provided a significant boost to my career trajectory.

Here, I'll share some viral content as well as high performing videos through music curation and social posts along with analytics demonstrating engagement levels before and after implementing my strategies. Additionally, I'll highlight the impact of social media marketing in driving substantial growth.

MUSIC CURATION FOR TRAP AND

HOUSE CITY: HIGH PERFORMING VIDEOS

Regular uploads on Trap City typically garnered between 20,000 to 50,000 views, while House City videos averaged around 1,000 to 3,000 views at most, occasionally resulting in a loss of subscribers. However, by promptly identifying trending songs, I was able to significantly boost viewership on both channels, with some videos surpassing millions of views and attracting a wave of new subscribers and potential new and long lasting fans. In the last 90 days, I made a strategic decision to hunt for trending content for House City, resulting in the addition of 3,500 new subscribers to the channel. The viewership rate skyrocketed to over 999% compared to the previous 90 days, as confirmed by analytics data. This surge in viewership also translated into a substantial spike in revenue. The primary factors contributing to this growth were being quick to identify trends, maintaining consistency in uploads, and actively scouting for emerging trends.

Over 3.8 million views and counting over a 90 day period.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

In addition to curating music, I also lent a hand to Trap City by delving into social media marketing. Understanding the YouTube shorts algorithm is crucial—it thrives on viewer retention, directly influencing video ranking.

One of my uploaded shorts went viral, amassing an impressive 11.3 million views, 315,000 likes, with a rapid surge of 2.8 million views in just 9 days. This single video brought 4,900 new subscribers to the channel. In the realm of YouTube shorts, success isn't solely dictated by the music choice; rather, it hinges on intuitively selecting content with the potential to go viral. Trusting your instincts is key in these situations.

ORGANIC MUSIC GROWTH THROUGH VIDEO CONTENT

In contrast to many music labels' costly advertising strategies for stream growth, I conducted a trial using my marketing expertise. Instead of investing in ads, I focused on organically boosting a track's streams through viral video content. I created a new YouTube account dedicated to gaming shorts and subtly integrated a release from a Lofi label in the background in every single short I have uploaded.

I kept a consistent upload schedule.

One of these shorts garnered 1.1 million views, and over 50,000 likes, leading to 22,000 organic streams on Spotify for the featured song. This translated to £75 in revenue without spending a single penny on ads or other paid forms of promotion.
